New Tool for Keeping Students Safe!
November came and gone but left us with many things to be grateful for. We are grateful for great students, a great faculty, and great support from our student’s parents. We are also grateful for beautiful weather and another successful Geckathon put on by our very own Mr. Jolley.
Fall is in full force now with winter not far behind. Our Lava Ridge Counselors want to remind you that we have many resources available to students to help in the coming months. Some of the programs we can assist families with include:
KONY Coins for Kids (Applications will be taken at the Old Woodward Building on West Tabernacle from Nov. 27th from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Nov. 28th-30th from 9:00 am - 7:00 pm, and Friday Dec. 1st 9:00 am- 5:00 pm) - Contact LRIS Counselor for a referral letter
Spectrum clothing/blanket drive
“Jackets for James” - winter coats for students
KSL Quarters for Christmas
Please don’t hesitate to contact your counselors if your student/family could benefit from these programs. We are happy to assist you in accessing the services you need to make this a low stress and happy time of year.
This month Lava Ridge, along with the rest of the conesite, launched the SafeUt App.
The SafeUT Crisis Text and Tip Line is a statewide service that provides real-time crisis intervention to youth through texting and a confidential tip program – right from your smartphone. Licensed clinicians in our 24/7 Crisis-Line call center respond to all incoming chats, texts, and calls by providing: Supportive or crisis counseling, suicide prevention, and referral services. The SafeUt app. can help anyone with emotional crises, bullying, relationship problems, mental health, or suicide related issues. Our schools HOPE Squad headed this launch at LRIS. Some of the activities included hanging up SafeUt posters, a video slideshow during Advisory time, and passing out cards during lunch on how to download the app.; we thank the HOPE Squad for all the efforts.
Please see our website at counseling.lavaridge.net for specifics about CCRs, and information on the manyother services we offer at our school. Have a GREAT DECEMBER everyone!
